তাহমিদ ভুঁইয়া তামিম (১৫) ক্রিকেট খেলতে খুব ভালোবাসতো। লেখাপড়ার পাশাপাশি সবসময় ক্রিকেট খেলা নিয়ে মেতে থাকতো। স্বপ্ন দেখতো দেশের স্বনামধন্য ক্রীড়া প্রতিষ্ঠান বিকেএসপিতে ভর্তি হওয়ার। এবং নিজেকে দেশের একজন বড় ক্রিকেটার হিসেবে গড়ে তুলবে। কিন্তু তার সেই স্বপ্ন আর পূরণ হলো না। গত ১৮ জুলাই ঢাকা-সিলেট মহাসড়কের নরসিংদী শহরের জেলখানার মোড়ে কোটা সংস্কারের দাবিতে আন্দোলনকারীদের সঙ্গে পুলিশের ধাওয়া পাল্টা ধাওয়ায় রাবার বুলেটের আঘাতে ঘটনাস্থলেই মারা যায় তামিম। নিহত তামিম সদর উপজেলার চিনিশপুর ইউনিয়নের নন্দীপাড়া গ্রামের রফিকুল ইসলাম ভুঁইয়ার ছেলে। সে নরসিংদীর নাছিমা কাদির মোল্লা হাইস্কুল অ্যান্ড হোমসের নবম শ্রেণীর শিক্ষার্থী ছিল। পল্লী চিকিৎসক বাবা ও গৃহিণী মায়ের তিন সন্তানের মধ্যে সবার বড় ছিল তামিম। তামিমদের বাড়ি ঘটনাস্থল জেলখানার মোড় থেকে ৫০০ গজ দূরে। সরেজমিনে গিয়ে দেখা যায়, তারা টিনশেড পাকা বাড়িতে বসবাস করে। বাড়িতে একেবারে সুনসান নিরবতা। তামিমের মৃত্যুর পর তার মা অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েছেন। বাড়ির সদস্যরা সাংবাদিকদের নিকট দূরত্ব বজায় রাখছেন। তারা কোনো কথা বলতে চাইছেন না। তামিমের স্বজনেরা জানায়, ১৮ জুলাই বৃহস্পতিবার দুপুরে পরিবারের সবাই একসঙ্গে দুপুরের খাবার খেয়েছেন। পরে বিছানায় শুয়ে তাহমিদ ও তার ছোট বোন লিনাত মুঠোফোন নিয়ে খেলছিল। একপর্যায়ে তাহমিদ ঘর থেকে বেরিয়ে যায়। এ সময় মা রান্নাঘরে কাজ করছিলেন। পাশের ঘরে ঘুমাচ্ছিলেন বাবা। পরে তামিম জেলখানার মোড়ে গিয়ে আন্দোলনকারীদের কাছে যায়। এসময় আন্দোলনকারীদের সঙ্গে পুলিশের পাল্টাপাল্টি ধাওয়া চলছে। চলছে ইটপাটকেল নিক্ষেপ ও গোলাগুলি। একপর্যায়ে তামিম রাবার বুলেটে বিদ্ধ হয়। আন্দোলনরতরা গুলিবিদ্ধ তামিমকে ১০০ শয্যাবিশিষ্ট জেলা হাসপাতালে নিলে চিকিৎসক তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন। তারপর স্ট্রেচারে করে লাশ নিয়ে আন্দোলনস্থলে নিয়ে আসে আন্দোলনকারীরা। এদিকে তামিমকে খুঁজতে তার বাবা-মা জেলখানার মোড়ে আসেন। তারা ভিড়ের মধ্যে বিভিন্ন জায়গায় খোঁজাখুঁজি করেও তাকে পায়নি। পরে ছেলেকে না পেয়ে মা বাড়িতে গিয়ে দেখতে পায় ছেলের মরদেহ আন্দোলনকারীরা নিয়ে এসেছে। এসময় তিনি কান্নায় ভেঙ্গে পড়েন। তামিমের ফুফা লুৎফর রহমান বলেন, তাহমিদ ছোট থেকেই মেধাবী ছিল। সে একটি ইংরেজি মিডিয়াম স্কুলে পড়তো। পরে তার মধ্যবিত্ত বাবার পক্ষে সেই খরচ কুলিয়ে উঠতে না পারায় তাকে এনকেএম স্কুলে ভর্তি করায়। সে লেখাপড়ার পাশাপাশি ক্রিকেট ভালোবাসতো। সে ভালো খেলতেও। স্বপ্ন ছিল বড় ক্রিকেটার হওয়ার, তার সেই স্বপ্ন আর পূরণ হলো না। নরসিংদী জেলা হাসপাতালের তত্ত্বাবধায়ক এ এন এম মিজানুর রহমান বলেন, রাবার বুলেটে বিদ্ধ তামিমকে মৃত অবস্থায় হাসপাতালে নিয়ে আসা হয়েছিল। তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করার পরপরই উত্তেজিত শিক্ষার্থীরা হাসপাতালে ভাঙচুর করে। আমরা চেয়েছিলাম, তার মরদেহ ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য মর্গে পাঠাতে। শিক্ষার্থীদের তোপের মুখে আমরা সেটা পারিনি। তামিমের বাবা রফিকুল ইসলাম ভুঁইয়া বলেন, জেলা প্রশাসনের পক্ষ থেকে মরদেহের ময়নাতদন্ত করার জন্য বলা হয়েছিল। তবে আমি রাজি হইনি। সবার সামনেই গুলি করে ছেলেকে মারা হয়েছে, ময়নাতদন্ত করে আর কী হবে? আমার ছেলেকে তো আর ফেরত পাব না। পরে বৃহস্পতিবার রাতে তামিমের স্কুলে ও স্থানীয় ঈদগাহে দুই দফা জানাজা শেষে চিনিশপুর কবরস্থানে তাকে দাফন করা হয়।

Tahmid Bhuiya Tamim (15) loved playing cricket very much. Alongside his studies, he was always engrossed in playing cricket. He dreamed of getting admitted to the country's renowned sports institution BKSP and becoming a great cricketer of the country. But that dream of his was never fulfilled. On July 18, during a protest for quota reform at the jail intersection in Narsingdi city on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, Tamim was killed on the spot by a rubber bullet during clash between the police and the protesters. The deceased Tamim was the son of Rafiqul Islam Bhuiya from Nandipara village in the Chinispur union of the Sadar upazila. He was a ninth-grade student at Narsingdi's Nasima Kadir Molla High School and Homes. Tamim was the eldest of three children of a village doctor father and a housewife mother. Tamim's house is located 500 yards away from the jail intersection. Upon visiting the site, it was observed that live in a tin-roofed concrete house. There was complete silence in the house. After Tamim's death, his mother fell ill. Family members are maintaining distance from journalists and do not wish to speak. Tamim's relatives said that on Thursday, July 18, the whole family had lunch together. Later, while lying on the bed, Tahmid and his younger sister Linat were playing with a mobile phone. At one point, Tahmid went out of the room. At that time, his mother was working in the kitchen and his father was sleeping in the next room. Later, Tamim went to the jail intersection to join the protesters. At that time, there was a back-and-forth chase between the police and the protesters. Bricks and stones were being thrown, and gunfire was exchanged. At one point, Tamim was hit by a rubber bullet. The protesters took the bullet-ridden Tamim to the 100-bed district hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. Then, the protesters brought his body to the protest site on a stretcherMeanwhile, Tamim's parents came to the jail intersection searching for him. They searched various places in the crowd but could not find him. Later, not finding their son, his mother went home and saw that the protesters had brought his body. At that moment, she broke down in tears. Tamim's uncle Lutfor Rahman said, "Tahmid was talented from a young age. He studied at an English medium school. Later, as his middle-class father could not afford the expenses, he was admitted to NKEM School. He cricket alongside his studies and played well. He dreamed of becoming a great cricketer, but that dream of his was never fulfilled." ANM Mizanur Rahman, the superintendent of Narsingdi District Hospital, said, "Tamim, who was hit by a rubber bullet, was brought to the hospital dead. Immediately after declaring him dead, agitated students vandalized the hospital. We wanted to send his body for an autopsy, but we couldn't do that due to the students' protests." Tamim's father Rafiqu Islam Bhuiya said, "The district administration had asked for an autopsy of the body. However, I did not agree. My son was shot dead in front of everyone; what would an autopsy achieve? I will never get my son back." Later, on Thursday night, after two rounds of funeral prayers at Tamim's school and the local Eidgah, he was buried in the Chinispur graveyard.
