গত ১৮ই জুলাই মুগ্ধ’র রক্তে যখন রাস্তা ভেসে যাচ্ছিল, তখন তার বন্ধুরা বহু সংগ্রাম করেও সাথে সাথে তাকে হাসপাতালে নিতে পারেননি। "অসংখ্য পুলিশ অস্ত্র হাতে এগিয়ে আসছিলো। কিছুক্ষণ পর রিকশায় করে মুগ্ধকে নিকটস্থ ক্রিসেন্ট হাসপাতালের ইমার্জেন্সিতে নিয়ে গেলে ডাক্তাররা তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন," মুগ্ধ’র বন্ধু আশিক এভাবেই ঘটনার বর্ণনা দিয়েছেন ফেসবুকে। বাংলাদেশ ইউনিভার্সিটি অব প্রফেশনালস-এর (বিইউপি) ছাত্র মুগ্ধ বিক্ষোভে যোগ দিয়েছিলেন ঢাকার উত্তরা এলাকায়। তার বাসাও সেখানে। যেদিন মুগ্ধ মারা যান, সেদিন রাজধানী ঢাকা ছিল বিক্ষোভে উত্তাল। সংঘাত ছড়িয়েছিল শহরের অলিগলিতে। বিক্ষোভে নিহত বহু মানুষের মতো মুগ্ধর সদা হাস্যোজ্জ্বল ছবি এখন ফেসবুকে ছড়িয়েছে। অন্যান্য অনেকের মতো মুগ্ধ’র বন্ধু-পরিজনরাও গত কয়েকদিন ধরে তাকে নিয়ে ফেসবুকে স্মৃতিচারণ করছেন। মুগ্ধ যখন গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়েছিলেন তখন তার কাছাকাছি ছিলেন বন্ধু জাকিরুল ইসলাম। মুগ্ধ’র কপালে গুলি লাগার দৃশ্যকে তিনি বিবিসি বাংলা’র কাছে এভাবে বর্ণনা করেন, “গুলি লাগছিলো কপালে, মেয়েরা যেখানে টিপ পরে…ডান কানের পাশ দিয়ে গুলিটা বের হয়ে গেছে।” মুগ্ধ’র বন্ধু জাকির শুক্রবার সকালে বিবিসিকে বলেন, “গুলি লাগার পর ওর মাথার ঘিলু বের হয়ে গেছিলো। ঘটনাস্থলেই, আমাদের চোখের সামনেই ও মারা গেল।” “মুগ্ধ সবাইরে পানি খাওয়াইতেছিলো। আমাদের কাছে না ছিল কোনও ধরনের আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র, না ছিল অন্য কোনোকিছু। তারপরও এইভাবে আমার বন্ধুরে গুলি করে মাইরা ফেলাইলি? আমার সামনে ঘটে যাওয়া এ সিন আমি কিভাবে ভুলি?"
