কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলন চলাকালে ঢাকায় গুলিতে নিহত টাইলস মিস্ত্রী মো. লিটন মাতুব্বরের (৩০) পরিবারের একমাত্র উপার্জনকারী ব্যক্তিকে হারিয়ে তার স্বজনরা এখন অকূল সাগরে পড়েছে। জানা গেছে, দেশের উপকূলীয় জনপদ বরগুনার বেতাগী উপজেলার প্রত্যন্ত পল্লী হোসনবাদ ইউনিয়নের মেহের গাজী করুণা গ্রামের তৈয়ব আলী মাতুব্বরের ছেলে। গত ২০ বছর ধরে নিহত মাতুব্বর লিটন রাজধানীর বাড্ডা এলাকায় বসবাস ও টাইলস মিস্ত্রীর কাজ করে আসছিলেন। জানা গেছে, এর আগে গত ১৮ জুলাই দুপুরে কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলনরত শিক্ষার্থীদের সঙ্গে পুলিশের সংঘর্ষ চলছিল। এ সময় লিটন কাজের উদ্দেশ্যে বাড্ডা এলাকায় সড়ক পার হয়ে একটি বাসায় যাচ্ছিলেন। সেখানেই গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়ে নিহত হন টাইলস মিস্ত্রী মো. লিটন মাতুব্বর। লিটন মাতুব্বরকে হারিয়ে এই দুঃসময়ে ছয় সদস্যের পরিবারটির সঙ্গী এখন কেবলই কান্না। স্থানীয়রা জানায়, পরিবারের একমাত্র উপার্জনকারী ব্যক্তি ছিলেন লিটন মাতুব্বর। লিটন মিস্ত্রির কাজ করলেও যা আয় করতে পারতো তার সেই আয়েই এতদিন যাবৎ চলতো প্রতিবন্ধী বাবার চিকিৎসা। লিটনকে হারিয়ে এখন তার চিকিৎসা নিয়ে দুশ্চিন্তায় রয়েছেন পরিবারের অন্য সদস্যরা। বাবার অসুস্থতার কারণে লিটন মাতুব্বরের বিয়ে করাও হয়ে ওঠেনি। ৩৫ বছর বয়স হলেও একমাত্র বাবার চিকিৎসার কথা চিন্তা করে তিনি বিয়ে না করেই অবশেষে স্বার্থপরের ন্যায় বাবাকে না জানিয়ে হঠাৎ চলে যান। লিটনের বড় ভাই মো. বশির মাতুব্বর। কিছুতেই তিনি যেন ভাইকে ভুলতে পারছেন না। পরিবারের একমাত্র উপার্জনকারী ব্যক্তিকে হারিয়ে তিনি এখন অকূল সাগরে ও চারদিকে অন্ধকার দেখছেন। বশির মাতুব্বর বলেন, গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়ে আহত হওয়ার পর লিটনকে ঢাকার কুর্মিটোলা হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। সেখানে তিনি চিৎিসাধীন অবস্থায় মারা যান। পরে পুলিশ তার লাশ ময়না তদন্তের জন্য সোহরাওয়ার্দী মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যায়। পরদিন পরিবারের কাছে লাশ হস্তান্তর করলে বাড়ি নিয়ে এসে পারিবারিক কবরস্থানে তাকে দাফন করা হয়।

It is known that Liton Matubbar, the son of Tayeb Ali Matubbar, had been living and working in the Badda area of Dhaka for the past 20 years. Prior to this, on July 18, students protesting for quota reform clashed with police. At that time, Liton was shot and killed while crossing the road to go to work in the Badda area. The family of six is now in a difficult situation after losing their only source of income. Locals say that Liton was the only breadwinner in the family and his income was used to treat his disabled father. Liton's death has left the family worried about how to continue his father's treatment. Liton's marriage had not taken place due to his father's illness, and he had recently left home without his father's knowledge. Liton's older brother, Mohammad Bashir Matubbar, is now struggling to come to terms with the loss of his brother. Bashir said that after being shot, Liton was taken to Kurmitola Hospital in Dhaka, where he died while undergoing treatment. The police then took his body to Sohrawardi Medical College Hospital for autopsy, and the next day, the body was handed over to the family, who buried him in their family graveyard.
