কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলন ঘিরে দীর্ঘ এক মাস বন্ধের পর খুলল দেশে শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান। বন্ধু-সহপাঠী সবাই ক্লাসে ফিরলেও ফেরেনি বিএফ শাহীন কলেজের শিক্ষার্থী শাফিক উদ্দিন আহমেদ আহনাফ। ছাত্র আন্দোলনে গত ৪ আগস্ট গুলিতে নিহত হয় সে। তার স্মরণে আজ (রোববার) ক্লাসের টেবিলের আহনাফের আসন ফাঁকা রাখে সহপাঠীরা।

রোববার সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যমে একটি ছবি ভাইরাল হয়। তাতে দেখা যায়, আহনাফের সব সহপাঠী ক্লাসে-পরীক্ষার টেবিলে। আহনাফের টেবিলটা শুধু ফাঁকা। তার স্মরণে বন্ধুরা সেখানে ফুল রেখেছে।

সহপাঠীরা জানান, আহনাফের টেবিলটা আজ ফাঁকা। তার স্মরণে টেবিলে ফুল রেখেছে সহপাঠীরা। তারা তাদের শহীদ বন্ধুকে ভুলে নাই, ভুলতে পারবেও না। ফুল হয়েই আহনাফ আজ পরীক্ষায় অংশ নিলো।

তারা জানান, সত্যি যদি জড় বস্তু টেবিলের প্রাণ থাকত, আহনাফের এই শূন্যতা, এই ফুলের তোড়ার ভার কীভাবে সইত!

আহনাফ তার পরিবারের সদস্যদের বলত, বড় হয়ে এমন কিছু করবে, যার জন্য পরিবারের সদস্যরা তাকে নিয়ে গর্ব করবেন। সরকারি চাকরিতে কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলনকে কেন্দ্র করে সংঘর্ষে ৪ আগস্ট রাজধানীর মিরপুর ১০ নম্বরে গুলিতে নিহত হয় আহনাফ। তাকে নিয়ে এখন গর্বিত পরিবারের সদস্যরা। তবে আহনাফের মৃত্যুর মধ্য দিয়ে এভাবে তারা গর্বিত হতে চাননি।

রাজধানীর বিএএফ শাহীন কলেজের একাদশ শ্রেণির শিক্ষার্থী ছিল আহনাফ। ২০২৫ সালে তার এইচএসসি পরীক্ষা দেওয়ার কথা ছিল। কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলনের পক্ষে শুরু থেকেই আহনাফ সোচ্চার ছিল। আন্দোলনে অংশ নিয়ে টিয়ার গ্যাস ও রাবার বুলেটে আহত হয়ে সে একবার বাসায় ফিরেছিল। আন্দোলনে যেতে নিষেধ করলে আহনাফ তার মা আর খালাকে বলত, ‘তোমাদের মতো ভিতু মা-খালাদের জন্য ছেলেমেয়েরা আন্দোলনে যেতে পারছে না। ১৯৭১ সালে তোমাদের মতো মা-খালারা থাকলে দেশ আর স্বাধীন হতো না।’

আহনাফের মা সাফাত সিদ্দিকী ও খালা নাজিয়া আহমেদ জানান, আন্দোলনে যেতে বাধা দিলেই আহনাফ বলত, সে সাঈদ-মুগ্ধ ভাইদের মতো সাহসী হতে চায়। তাদের মতো কিছু হলে তারা গর্ব করে বলতে পারবেন, ‘আমরা আহনাফের মা-খালা’। শেষ পর্যন্ত আহনাফ হয়েছেও তাই।

When his mother and aunt forbade him from joining the movement, Ahnaf would say, "Sons and daughters can't participate in the movement because of cowardly mothers and aunts like you. If there were mothers and aunts like you in 1971, the country would not have been liberated."

Ahnaf's mother, Saffat Siddiqui, and aunt, Nazia Ahmed, said that when they forbade him from joining the movement, Ahnaf would say that he wanted to be brave like the Said-Mughdh brothers. If something happened to him, they could proudly say, "We are Ahnaf's mother and aunt." In the end, Ahnaf became just that.
