প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলে বেড়ে উঠা দরিদ্র পরিবারের পরিশ্রমী সন্তান শহীদ মো: আসাদুল্লাহ। তিনি ২০০০ সালের ১ জুলাই জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। তার জন্মস্থান শেরপুর জেলার শ্রীবরদী থানার রহমতপুর গ্রামে। পিতা মাতার বিচ্ছেদের কারণে জন্মের পর থেকে তিনি নানার বাড়িতে লালিত-পালিত হন। পরবর্তীতে নবম শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত স্থানীয় বালিয়াচন্ডি মাদরাসায় পড়ালেখা করেন। নানার মৃত্যুর পর ইতি টানতে হয় পড়ালেখায়। এরপর মামা তাকে ঢাকায় এনে রেস্টুরেন্টে কাজ খুঁজে দেন। তাছাড়া ঢাকায় আসার পর তিনি গাড়ি মেরামত, ড্রাইভিংসহ বিভিন্ন কাজ শুরু করেন। তিনি ২০২৩ সালের ১ সেপ্টেম্বর নুরানী খাতুনের সাথে বিবাহ বন্ধনে আবদ্ধ হন। বিবাহের পর তারা শ্বশুর বাড়িতেই থাকতেন। তার শশুর ছিলেন একজন সবজি বিক্রেতা। কষ্টার্জিত টাকা হতে তিনি ১ লক্ষ ৭০ হাজার টাকা ব্যয় করে আসাদুল্লাহকে একটি লেগুনা কিনে দেন। লেগুনা দ্বারা উপার্জিত অর্থ দিয়েই শহীদ আসাদুল্লাহ রুটি-রুজি আর পারিবারিক ভরণপোষণের ব্যবস্থা করতেন। শাহাদাতের সময় তার স্ত্রী ৮ মাসের গর্ভবতী ছিলেন।

২০২৪ সালের জুলাই মাসে বৈষম্যবিরোধী আন্দোলনে ছাত্র-জনতার উপর বিপথগামী প্রশাসন ও সরকারদলীয় সন্ত্রাসী বাহিনীর হামলায় ক্রমান্বয়ে আহত ও নিহতের সংখ্যা বেড়েই চলছিল। ছাত্র-জনতার পাশাপাশি সমাজের কৃষক, শ্রমিক, বৃদ্ধ, জেলে, কুমারসহ সকল পেশার মানুষ তখন রাস্তায় নেমে আসে। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় ছাত্র জনতার আন্দোলনে যোগ দেন আসাদুল্লাহ। প্রতিদিনের মতো ১৮ জুলাই বিকেল ৩টায় লেগুনা নিয়ে তিনি আসেন আজমপুর। সেখানে আগে থেকেই স্বৈরাচারী সরকারের পুলিশ এবং দেশপ্রেমিক ছাত্র-জনতা মুখোমুখি অবস্থান নিয়েছিল। দেশকে জুলুমবাজ শাসকের হাত থেকে রক্ষা করার জন্য আসাদুল্লাহও নিজ লেগুনা থেকে নেমে এসে ছাত্র-জনতার আন্দোলনে যোগ দেন। সেদিন দুপুর থেকেই পুলিশ ও ছাত্রলীগের সন্ত্রাসী বাহিনী ছাত্র-জনতার উপর টিয়ারশেল ও গুলি ছুড়ছিল। আসাদুল্লাহ অবস্থান নিয়েছিল আজমপুরস্থ উত্তরা থানার ঠিক পাশেই। তিনি রাজপথ না ছাড়তে ছাত্র-জনতাকে উৎসাহ দিতে থাকেন। দুপক্ষের সংঘাত চলাকালে বিকেল ৫টার দিকে পুলিশ ও সন্ত্রাসীদের ছোড়া ৩টি বুলেট তার পেট ভেদ করে বেরিয়ে যায়। ঘটনাস্থলে উপস্থিত ছাত্ররা তৎক্ষনাৎ তাকে উত্তরা ক্রিসেন্ট হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যান। হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন থাকা অবস্থায় রাত ৮টার দিকে আসাদুল্লাহ শাহাদাত বরণ করেন। দুনিয়ার সফর শেষ করার সময় তার স্ত্রীর গর্ভে ছিল ৮ মাসের সন্তান।

আসাদুল্লাহ’র প্রতিবেশী ইবরাহীম বলেন, প্রতিবেশী আসাদুল্লাহ আমাদের প্রতিবেশি। তিনি ভদ্র ও মিশুক ছিলেন। দেখা হলে সালাম দিয়ে কথা বলতেন, খোঁজ খবর নিতেন। ১৮ জুলাই সে আমাকে জানালো যে, আজমপুরে গোলাগুলি চলছে; আমি যেন সেদিকে না যাই। অথচ সন্ধ্যা বেলায় জানতে পারি, আসাদুল্লাহ’ই গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়ে মারা গিয়েছে।

Shahid Md. Asadullah was the industrious son of a poor family, growing up in a remote area. He was born on July 1, 2000, in the village of Rahmatpur, Sribardi thana, Sherpur district. Due to the separation of his parents, he was raised at his grandfather's house since birth. He studied at the local Baliachandi Madrasa until the ninth grade. After his grandfather's death, he had to fight to continue his education. Later, his uncle brought him to Dhaka and helped him find a job at a restaurant. In addition to his work, he also started doing various tasks such as car repairs and driving. On September 1, 2023, he married Nurani Khatun, and they lived at her father's house. Her father was a vegetable vendor. With his hard-earned money, he bought Asadullah a Leguna for 170,000 taka. Asadullah used the Leguna to make a living and support his family. At the time of his death, his wife was eight months pregnant.

Description of the overall incident
In July 2024, during the anti-discrimination movement, the number of injured and killed people was increasing due to the attacks by the administration and government-backed terrorist forces on the students and general public. Alongside the students, people from all walks of life, including farmers, workers, elderly, fishermen, and potters, joined the movement. Asadullah also joined the student movement. On July 18, he came to Azampur with his Leguna, where the police and the terrorist forces were already present, facing off against the students. Asadullah got out of his Leguna and joined the student movement. The police and terrorists were firing tear gas shells and bullets at the students from noon onwards. Asadullah was standing near the Uttara police station in Azampur, encouraging the students not to leave the streets. During the clashes, around 5 pm, three bullets fired by the police and terrorists pierced his stomach. Students present at the scene immediately took him to the Uttara Crescent Hospital, where he died around 8 pm while undergoing treatment. At the time of his death, his wife was eight months pregnant.

Ibrahim, Asadullah's neighbor, said, "Asadullah was our neighbor. He was a gentle and polite person. Whenever we met, he would greet us and ask about our well-being. On July 18, he told me that there was a shooting in Azampur and warned me not to go in that direction. But in the evening, I found out that Asadullah himself had been shot and killed."
