‘সক্কাল সক্কাল উইঠা আমারে কয়, মা আজকা ফুচকা বেঁচতাম না। আন্দোলনে যামু। আমি কইলাম, নারে বাপ এসবে যাইছ না। আমার ঢর লাগে। সেই ঢরডারে সত্যি কইরা দিয়া ওয় চইলা গেল আমারে ছাইড়া।’

ছেলের মৃত্যুর সাত মাস পেরোলেও আহাজারি থামেনি শহীদ বিল্লালের মায়ের। ছেলের কথা মনে পড়লেই অঝোরে কাঁদেন তার মা তাসলিমা বেগম।

ছাত্র-জনতার গণ-অভ্যুত্থানে শহীদ হয়েছেন বিল্লাল (২০)। যার কাঁধে ছিল তার পুরো পরিবারের ভরণপোষণের দায়িত্ব। বিল্লাল নারায়ণগঞ্জের সোনারগাঁও থানার কলতাপাড়া গ্রামের বাসিন্দা ছিলেন।

বিল্লালের পারিবারিক সূত্রে জানা যায়, হোসেন মিয়া (৫৩) ও তাসলিমা বেগম (৪০)-এর তিন সন্তান। বিল্লাল তাদের মেঝো ছেলে। সিদ্ধিরগঞ্জের হিরাঝিল এলাকায় ফুচকার দোকান ছিল তার। ফুচকা বিক্রির অর্থে চলতো তার পরিবাবারের সাংসারিক খরচ।

চব্বিশের ৫ আগস্ট মায়ের বারণ না মেনে আন্দোলনে যোগ দেন তিনি। যাত্রাবাড়িতে আন্দোলরত অবস্থায় পুলিশের গুলিতে আহত হন বিল্লাল। মাথায় গুলি লাগে তার। রাতে আসে তার মৃত্যুর সংবাদ। তার মৃত্যুতে পরিবারে নেমে এসেছে অনিশ্চয়তার ঘন অন্ধকার। খেয়ে না খেয়ে অভাব-অনটনে কাটছে তাদের জীবন।

সোনারগাঁ উপজেলার কলতাপাড়া গ্রামের একটি টিনশেড বাড়িতে ভাড়া থাকেন বিল্লালের পরিবার।  সেখানেই আলাপ হয় রাষ্ট্রীয় বার্তা সংস্থা বাসসের প্রতিবেদকের সঙ্গে।

এ সময় তাসলিমা খাতুন বলেন, ‘বিল্লালে সকালে কয় আন্দোলনে যাইব, আজকা ফুচকা বেঁচত না। আমি কইলাম, বাপ চারদিকে এত গণ্ডগোল, তুমি যাইও না। ওয় কয়, না, মা সবাই দেশের জন্য যাইতাছে। সবাইরে মাইরা ফেলতাছে। আমারে যাইতে দাও। আমিও যামু। একদিন ফুচকা না বেঁচলে কিছু হইব না।’

‘সকালে ডাইল-আলু ভর্তা করছি। এডি খাওয়ার সময় কয়, মা আজকা মুরগি রাইন্দ। মুরগি দিয়া ভাত খামু। আমার পোলারে আর মুরগি দিয়া খাওয়াইতে পারলাম না,’ আফসোস করেন তিনি।

তিনি আরও বলেন, আমার এই ছেলেডা বাকি দুইডার মতন নাহ। ওর সবার জন্যই অনেক মায়া আছিল। সবার খেয়াল রাখত। আমার স্বামী অসুস্থ। আমার বড় ছেলে মামুন (২৬) কাজ-কাম কিছু করে না। ছোট ছেলে মানিক (১৭) বিল্লালের মরণের পর নতুন কাজে লাগছে। ছোট ভাইরে কাজ করতে দিত না বিল্লাল।  
বিল্লালের মা বলেন, ‘ওয় কইছিল মা তোমারে আমি বাড়ি কইরা দিমু। ভাড়া বাসায় থাকন লাগত না। আমাগো একদিন নিজেগো বাড়ি হইব। তোমাগো আর কষ্ট করতে দিমু না। এই পোলায় আছিল আমার সব আশা-ভরসা। আল্লাহ ওই পোলাডারেই লইয়া গেলগা।’ এই বলে অঝোরে কাঁদতে থাকেন তাসলিমা বেগম।

বিল্লালের বড় ভাই মামুন বলেন, ‘আমি শনিআখড়ায় থাকতাম। ৫ আগস্ট দুপুরে খবর পাই, আমার ভাইয়ের গায়ে গুলি লাগছে। কোনো গাড়ি না পাইয়া হাঁইটা গেছি ঢাকা মেডিকেল। গিয়া দেখি ভাই আমার পইড়া আছে।’

মামুন জানান, ওর মাথায় গুলি লাগছে। রক্তে ফ্লোর ভিজতাছে। কিন্তু ওর কোন চিকিৎসা হইতাছে না। একজনের থেকে ধার কইরা ৮ হাজার টাকা নিয়া গেছিলাম পরে ডাক্তাররা ২ ব্যাগ রক্ত রেডি রাখতে বলছে। আমি ৪ জন রেডি রাখছিলাম রক্ত দিতে।

মামুন আরও বলেন, ‘আমারে যা যা ঔষধ আনতে বলছিল, সব আনছি। কিন্তু ওনারা গাফলতিতে চিকিৎসা ঠিক মতো করে নাই। পরে রাত ১ টায় আমার ভাই আমাগো ছাইড়া চইলা যায়। ওরে আমাদের গ্রামের স্থানীয় কবরস্থানে দাফন করছি।’

বিল্লালের বাবা হোসেন মিয়া বলেন, ‘ছেলের মৃত্যুর পর আমরা মামলা করতে চাই নাই। কিন্তু সবাই বুঝাইল ছেলের হত্যার বিচার চাওয়া দরকার।  আমার পোলার মত কত মানুষরে ওই খুনি হাসিনা খুন করল। এরপর ওয় পলাইছে।’

পোলায় মরণের পর জুলাই শহীদ স্মৃতি ফাউন্ডেশন থেকে ৫ লাখ টাকা পাইছি। কিন্তু পোলার হত্যার বিচার হয় নাই। টাকা লাগবে না, পোলার হত্যার বিচার চাই আমরা।

In the morning, he would get up and say, "Mother, I will go to the movement, I won't sell fuchka today. I will join the protest." I told him, "No, son, don't go, there's a lot of chaos everywhere." He said, "No, mother, everyone is going for the country, they are hitting everyone. Let me go, I will also go." My heart aches thinking about it. He actually went to the protest and was shot by the police. He was hit in the head and died that night.

Seven months have passed since the death of Shahid Billal, but his mother Taslima Begum is still grieving. Whenever she thinks of her son, she bursts into tears. Billal, 20, was a student who was killed during a mass uprising. He was the sole breadwinner of his family and lived in Kaltapara village of Sonargaon thana in Narayanganj.

According to family sources, Billal's parents, Hossain Mia (53) and Taslima Begum (40), have three children. Billal was their middle child. He had a fuchka shop in the Hiaziril area of Siddhirganj, and his family's livelihood depended on the income from the shop.

On August 5, despite his mother's objections, Billal joined the protest. He was shot by the police in Jatrabari and died that night. His death has brought uncertainty and darkness to his family, who are now struggling to survive.

The family lives in a rented tin-shed house in Kaltapara village of Sonargaon upazila. In an interview with a reporter from the national news agency, BSS, Taslima said, "Billal told me in the morning that he would join the protest and not sell fuchka that day. I told him not to go, but he said everyone was going for the country and that he would also go."

Taslima added, "I was making dal-alu purta in the morning. When it was time to eat, he said, 'Mother, I will have chicken and rice today.' I couldn't even feed him chicken and rice before he left."

Billal's elder brother, Mamun, said that he was in Shonir Akhara at the time and received news that his brother had been shot. He rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he found his brother lying on the floor, bleeding from his head. Despite his efforts to save him, Billal died that night due to lack of proper treatment.

Mamun claimed that the hospital authorities did not provide proper treatment, and he had to arrange for blood and medicine on his own. Billal's father, Hossain Mia, said that they did not want to file a case after their son's death, but everyone persuaded them to seek justice. He alleged that many people like his son were killed by the "killer Hasina" and that she had escaped punishment.

After Billal's death, the family received Tk 5 lakh from the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation, but they are still waiting for justice. They do not want money; they want justice for their son's murder.
