সোহেল মারা গেছেন, চার বছরের শিশুসন্তান আবদুল্লাহ সেটি বুঝতে চায় না। ‘বাবা কখন আসবে’, ‘বাবা কোথায় গেছে’, ‘বাবা কেন এখনো আসে না’—দিনমান মাকে এমন হাজারো প্রশ্ন তার, আর বাবাকে এনে দেওয়ার জন্য কান্নাকাটি। সোহেলের স্ত্রী মিতু আক্তার (২৩) বলেন, ‘বাবার জন্য যখন ছেলে কাঁদে, তখন তাকে বোঝানোর চেষ্টা করি, গ্রামের বাড়িতে গেছে, চলে আসবে। আবার কখনো বলি, বাইরে কাজে গেছে। মিথ্যা কথা বলে ছেলেকে শান্ত করার চেষ্টা করি। কিন্তু যখন বাবা আসে না, তখন খুব কাঁদে ছেলে।’ মিতু আক্তার আরও বলেন, ‘৪ আগস্ট দুপুর দেড়টার দিকে যখন বাসা থেকে আন্দোলনে যোগ দিতে বের হয়ে যায়, তখন না করেছিলাম, কিন্তু শোনেনি। স্বামীকে যখন কোথাও পাওয়া যাচ্ছিল না, তখন আমরা যে এলাকায় থাকি, সেখানকার একজন রামপুরা এলাকায় লাশ দেখে এসে আমাদের খবর দেয়। আমার স্বামীর লাশ ময়লার গাড়িতে তুলে ফেলা হচ্ছিল। সেখান থেকে নামিয়ে রাখা হয়। বুকের বাঁ দিকে আর হাতে তিনটা গুলি লেগেছিল।’ তিনি একপর্যায়ে ফুঁপিয়ে কেঁদে বলেন, ‘অবুঝ সন্তানকে নিয়ে বাকি জীবন কাটাতে হবে। সবই আল্লাহর ইচ্ছা...।’
Cause
স্বজনেরা জানান, ৪ আগস্ট বেলা দেড়টার দিকে মিছিলে যাওয়া জন্য বাসা থেকে বের হন সোহেল। রাত সাড়ে ১০টার দিকে শ্বশুর স্বপন মিয়ার সঙ্গে সর্বশেষ কথা হয় তাঁর। সে সময় রামপুর এলাকায় নিজের অবস্থান জানিয়েছিলেন সোহেল। দ্রুত বাসায় ফিরবেন, সে কথাও বলেছিলেন। কিন্তু সেই রাতে আর বাসায় ফেরেননি তিনি। তাঁর মুঠোফোনটিও বন্ধ পাওয়া যায়। ৫ আগস্ট সারা দিনেও খোঁজ পাওয়া যায়নি সোহেলের। ৬ আগস্ট সকালে রামপুরার বাংলাদেশ টেলিভিশন ভবনের কাছে খোঁজ মেলে তাঁর। সোহেল যে এলাকায় ভাড়া থাকেন, সেখানকার একজন পরিচিত ব্যক্তি রামপুরা এলাকায় গিয়ে ময়লার গাড়িতে সোহেলের লাশ তুলতে দেখে লাশটি নামিয়ে রাখেন। খবর দেন তাঁর পরিবারকে। পরে সেখানে স্বজনেরা গিয়ে গুলিবিদ্ধ সোহেলের মরদেহ নিয়ে আসেন।

Cause
Relatives said Sohel left his home around 1:30 pm on August 4 to join a procession. He last spoke to his father-in-law, Swapan Mia, around 10:30 pm, at which time he reported being in the Rampura area and said he would return home quickly. However, he did not return home that night, and his phone was found to be turned off. Sohel could not be found on August 5. On the morning of August 6, his body was found near the Bangladesh Television building in Rampura. A person familiar with Sohel in the area where he rented saw his body being lifted into a garbage truck and retrieved it, notifying his family. Later, his relatives went to the scene and brought back Sohel's bullet-riddled body.
